Meet Hommage à Ellie

Meet Hommage à Ellie

As you can tell we love the Languedoc Region in France. With more than 20+ years of loving and living on the land, we took it upon ourselves to bring home some of the most gorgeous hidden gems, being the fantastic wine the land has to offer.

Our journey began in the simplest way… such as going to dinner and absolutely falling in love with the wine they have to offer. With conversations with waiting staff, we realised the wine had a lot less chemicals and preservatives than wine in England due to its slow production. From this we took it upon ourselves to go to the Chateaus and vineyards across the region to understand the wines. Leading to our beautiful business Languedoc wines.

All our wines are hand selected by us. We believe it’s essential to understand the bottles, the land and the hands that are creating the wine. We love to get to know the families behind the wine, that run the process of grapes being picked, pressed then packaged.

This philosophy is exactly how we discovered Hommage à Ellie. It started with a bottle of wine for dinner at a restaurant which resulted in a few weeks later vising the vineyard she was produced form. Our newest addition, Ellie, stood out to us straight away and knew it was a perfect match.

Elie is a powerful and expressive red wine, and Grand cru form Domaine Sivcard. The quality of the wine begins with the hand harvesting of the grapes; they are carefully selected by the experts for the bets of the best. Once fermented and undertaken malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred o oak barrels that have been made from the Forrest of trançais (over 300 years old oak). Adding another beautiful layer of complexity to the wine.

Ellie has a beautiful deep garnet colour, and gives gorgeous aromas of Vanila, white pepper and toasted fruits. The kind if wine that reminds you of Christmas cake or a cozy night in. On the palette she has layers of sweet and spice, a warm cocoa taste with a hint of pepper. The tannins are textured, with a long finish that subtly softens. Leaving you to want more.

Ellie is the type of wine that wine that will just get better. The bottle that’s perfect for special occasion. We recommend decanting her before serving, allowing her time to breathe and fully open up, so you can experience everything she has to give.
