Why you should come to a wine tasting

Wine tastings have always been at the heart of what we do at Languedoc Wines. They are not about showing off or telling people what they should like. They are about slowing down, sharing stories, and discovering wine in a way that feels relaxed and enjoyable.

When people come to one of our tastings, the first thing they usually notice is how approachable it feels. You do not need any prior wine knowledge to take part. We guide you through each wine gently, using clear and simple WSET style language to help you understand what you are seeing, smelling and tasting, without it ever feeling intimidating.

Each tasting focuses on wines from the Languedoc region, chosen because they truly represent their place. We talk about the vineyards, the growers, and why these wines matter to us. Understanding where a wine comes from often changes how it tastes, and we love seeing that moment when people make that connection for the first time.

During the tasting, we explore the appearance, nose and palate of each wine, looking at structure, balance and finish in a way that helps you trust your own senses. There is no right or wrong answer. If you enjoy the wine, that is what matters most. Our role is simply to give you the tools and confidence to describe what you like and why.

One of my favourite parts of hosting tastings is watching how people relax as the evening goes on. Conversations flow, questions start to come naturally, and wine becomes a shared experience rather than something to overthink. It often turns into a social occasion just as much as a learning one.

Our tastings are also a chance to try wines you might not normally choose. The Languedoc is full of diversity, and many of our wines surprise people with their freshness, balance and character. It is incredibly rewarding to see someone discover a new favourite and leave feeling excited about wine rather than overwhelmed by it.
