Wine of the Week: Combemale
When you think of Languedoc, you think of generous sunshine, rugged landscapes, and wines that are bold yet beautifully balanced. This week’s spotlight is on Combemale AOP Languedoc, a red wine that embodies the character and richness of southern France.
A Bold Expression of Languedoc
Our Combemale wine is crafted from a classic blend of Carignan, Syrah, and Grenache, three grapes that thrive in the Mediterranean climate. The result is a wine that’s dark in colour and brimming with flavour, offering a true taste of the region’s winemaking heritage.
Tasting Notes
From the first sip, Combemale shows off its ripe and grilled red fruit notes, layered with hints of liquorice and spice. The tannins are silky and smooth, giving the wine a supple texture that makes it approachable while still being full of depth. Unlike many reds, this wine is aged in steel tanks, allowing the fruit purity to shine through without heavy oak influence.
Perfect Pairings
This is a wine built for food. Its bold yet balanced profile makes it an excellent partner for:
-
Grilled meats — from steaks to lamb chops
-
Hearty fare such as casseroles or rich pasta dishes
-
Charcuterie boards with cured meats and aged cheeses
Why We Love It
With an ABV of 14.5%, Combemale is a warming, expressive red that manages to stay elegant thanks to its balance and finesse. It’s enjoyable now but also has the structure to age gracefully for 3–5 years — perfect for those who like to see a wine evolve over time.
🍷 Combemale is everything we love about Languedoc reds: bold, fruit-forward, and effortlessly food-friendly.
